#BioRes priority: complementary uses for bioresources

Although feeding human populations is the primary objective of agriculture and food production systems, other purposes have been and will continue to be served. Bioresources resulting from agricultural systems can be exploited in diverse ways, such as to produce materials, compounds, or energy. Sustainability challenges involve closing biogeochemical cycles and connecting food and non-food industries. Bioresource production is part of the bioeconomy and is currently redefining itself and experiencing technological advances. As a result, it could benefit from a systems approach.
